This observance reinforces the continuing advocacy for gender equality and women’s empowerment. Recognizing that empowerment begins at a young age, the activity focused on building the confidence, awareness, and overall well-being of young girls and boys within the municipality.
The United Nations emphasizes that girls are courageous and hopeful agents of change. However, they require safe spaces, strong support systems, and responsive institutions that listen to their needs and protect their rights. In response, the Local Government Unit, through the GAD GFPS, conducted school-based information sessions promoting self-care, self-worth, and awareness of rights among children.

As part of the week-long observance, several key components were implemented. First, school-based information sessions were conducted, which included a Hygiene and Proper Grooming Forum facilitated by Tuba DepEd Nurses, discussions on self-confidence, child rights, and protection mechanisms by MSWDO personnel, as well as a brief talk on protection mechanisms by Tuba PNP. These were followed by an open forum and interactive discussions with the students.
Second, a service component was carried out through the provision of free haircut services to students, along with the distribution of simple hygiene reminders and kits to support their daily self-care practices.
Finally, the activity highlighted strong stakeholder involvement, with the active participation of members of the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS), school officials, teachers, parents, the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Tuba, and the identified student-beneficiaries./CS
